ARTEK Event
The Arctic Technology Centre has since 2005 arranged an annually International ARTEK Event conference within the subject of Arctic technology. The conference takes place in Greenland at the Building and Construction School in Sisimiut.
ARTEK EVENT 2013
ARTEK Event 2013 was held during the days 9-11th of April 2013 and had the title "Sustainability in mining in the Arctic"
Topic: Although modern large-scale mining takes environmental precautions, challenges prevail - in particular when mines are opened in the vulnerable Arctic environment. Likewise, the importance of social, cultural and economic dimensions is magnified when acting in Greenland. One challenge for the large country with the small and scattered population is to set the scene for international players: the importance of learning from experiences of past mining operations in Greenland, as well as from neighbors in the north, is evident.
