Environmental protection

Towns and settlements in Arctic areas face problems with waste. In the first place, piles of waste do not look good, but much worse is the fact that waste constitutes a threat to water resources and to the environment. The waste incineration schemes currently being introduced in many areas will improve matters. An environmentally friendly solution is, however, still needed for poisonous waste products. Research into new technology will also concentrate on improving environmental awareness.
